Chapter 494: Be Careful

It took Lu Li two hours to learn how to form golden needles of psychic power. But he could not generate more than a few dozens of needles to stay in control.

What disappointed him was that—after he released needles of psychic power, he tried for many times but he could not get them into the Soul Pond of the Asmodian. He tried to force them into its Soul Pond but all the needles of psychic power collapsed and he felt a pain in his own soul.

It backfired but not too serious. Lu Li swallowed a soul nurturing pellet to feel better.

He took a break for two hours to recover. Then he went on experimenting again, using all kinds of methods, trying to from his psychic power into many different shapes. The Asmodian was only half alive.

Ji Mengtian and the others were fully rested while Lu Li was figuring this out. Jiang Qiling sent someone to get him back. Lu Li had to put it aside for now. It was not a matter that could be solved in a day or two.

He had spent half a day without making big progress. The Asmodian almost had a mental breakdown. If it were not for the fact that Jiang Hu kept knocking it out, it would have gone mad.

The team went on to another direction. They set off toward the northwest instead of the east.

Jiang Qiling frowned and asked, “The northwest side is the center of the small world with the most alien races. The lands there are flat and it will be easy to run into large groups of alien races. Lady Ji, have you chosen the wrong path?”

Ji Mengtian turned back and replied with a gently smile, “There are quite a number of humans there as well. This time, we have sent in so many powerful warriors that I believe us humans have taken control of the center area. We have gained the upper hand this time in the small world. What is more, when we cooperate together, we can deal with even hundreds of alien races. Why…Lady Jiang, are you scared?”

Admittedly, provocation was an effective way. Jiang Qiling retorted, “I have nothing to be scared of. Let’s go.”

Lu Li was speechless. But what could he say when Jiang Qiling said yes?

But there were indeed quite a number of powerful human warriors and the four alien races were overwhelmed. Many of the alien races must have died by now.

Plus, Ji Mengtian had a Quasi Relic and Die Feiyu’s Source of Life Bloodline could make use of its healing power. Lu Li put his mind at ease. If they really ran into a big group of alien race, he could just take Jiang Qiling with him and run away.

They rushed to the northwest. Along the way, they ran into more alien races. They would meet a team almost every hundreds of miles.

As what they had been doing, if there weren’t too many alien races, Ji Mengtian and Lu Li would take turns to deal with the alien races. If there were many of them, though, everyone would pitch in. Jiang Hu, Ji Yuan and others would rally together to attack.

Five days!

It had been five days since they set off and they had met more than 1000 alien races in total. All were killed by Lu Li, Ji Mengtian and others. On the human side, only two lives were lost to Asmodians’ sneaking attacks. With Die Feiyu around, they were basically immortal as long as they didn’t die on the spot or become poisoned by voodoo toxins.

They ran into many small teams of humans. Bu Ji Mengtian and Jiang Qiling were in no mood to be dragged down by the burdens even though those small teams were eager to join them.

Whenever he had time, Lu Li would experiment on the Asmodian to figure out soul attacks. But the progress was slow. Lu Li’s psychic power was too weak. He had consumed two elixirs Jiang Qiling gave him and yet his psychic power was strengthened only by a tiny margin.

Ji Mengtian didn’t come to meet Lu Li in private anymore and he could not tell what she was thinking. He tried to figure out her intentions. After all, Ji Mengtian and Die Feiyu were enough to make a clean sweep of the entire small battlefield and it was unnecessary for them to go with Lu Li.

During the past couple of days, Ji Mengtian had remained low-key. Apart from fighting, she showed no signs of unruly behavior. While resting, she would cultivate by herself or chit chat with Die Feiyu and the other girls.

“Is she trying to win me over with her charm?”

An idea came to Lu Li’s mind but he rejected it. To conquer him wouldn’t do much good to Ji Mengtian. Over this time, she had shown no hostile intentions to him or Jiang Qiling. Instead, she was well-mannered and polite.

“A person will not do anything that is meaningless. What is Ji Mengtian trying to achieve by cooperating with all of us? Is she really trying to get me to cooperate with her to kill a man?”

Lu Li could not find the answer. He had not guts to kill a person from the 12 Royal Families. Even if he did, there would be no end of trouble for the future. No more peaceful days could be found at the Northern Desert. He would be hunted down by the Royal Families and death – things he could not run away from.

He could not force an answer out. He had to be vigilant. He would leave with Jiang Qiling and Jiang Hu if Ji Mengtian made any odd actions.

Moving forward, they met more human teams. There were about 10,000 warriors on the human side. The small world was not spacious. It was easy for the teams to run into each other.

Now that there were so many humans, the number of alien races were decreasing.

Ji Mengtian discussed with the team and decided to lead the team to the north, where the base camp of the Feather Race was. Comparatively speaking, the Feather Race was weaker in attacks. Even if Ji Mengtian and the team were to encounter a big party of the Feather Race, they could prevail.

Lu Li was not worried with the presence of Die Feiyu. They could survive an encounter of a big team of Feather Race. He had come to get points. Wasting time here was not a choice.

Jiang Qiling had no second opinion, or no opinion at all.

Therefore, the team went toward the north. The journey was a calm one. It seemed to them that all the alien races in this area were killed. They marched for a day but only saw a couple from the Feather Race.

They went on for another four or five days. But never once did they run into many alien races. All those they met were in small groups. Lands began to flatten out. To Lu Li’s relief, Ji Mengtian had been sending people to patrol in the nearby region.

On a plain, the team camped out to rest. Lu Li began his torture at the Asmodian again. Jiang Qiling sat by herself to cultivate. Ji Mengtian and Die Feiyu were enjoying their girl talk.

Lu Li left with Jiang Hu to a place three miles away from the base camp. He was afraid that the screams of the Asmodian would disturb others. He could fly back in the time for a dozen breaths so he was not worried to be three miles away.

While he was releasing soul attacks on the Asmodian, he detected a slight fluctuation in space. Then a silhouette flashed past before him.

Lu Li opened his eyes. Jiang Hu looked over nervously at once. Someone had come to them silently. If this man was planning a surprise attack, they would both be in danger.

They knew the man coming, Ye Luo, future Family Patriarch of the Ye Family of the Tumulus of Universe.

Ye Luo carried a long sword on his back. He stood on the top of a hill not far away. His white robe danced in the wind. His extraordinary bearing and handsome features gave him an immortal’s look.

Lu Li didn’t stand up. He looked at Ye Luo who said nothing. After a few meaningful glances, Ye Luo stepped back and leaped into the distance.

“Baffling!”

Jiang Hu was confused. What was Ye Luo trying to achieve by coming here soundlessly, looking at Lu Li from the distance and leaving without saying anything?

Lu Li didn’t understand, either. But his mind was weighed down by anxiety. He saw something from Ye Luo’s eyes—be careful.

Ye Luo sneaked here to warn Lu Li. But why would he do that considering that he had not connection with Lu Li?

Careful? Of what? Of who?

“Jiang Hu, go around and have a look. See if there are any enemies nearby. If so, get back right away or crush the jade talisman!”

After some thoughts, Lu Li believed he could not be careless. He handed over a jade talisman to Jiang Hu and let him patrol around while he went back to the base camp with the Asmodian.

“Bang!”

The jade talisman in his hand broke just as he entered Jiang Qiling’s tent. Lu Li’s face turned awful.

So, there was an ambush. But was it planned by humans or alien races?
